C.U.A. - Now That’s a Dandy Venandi!

Are you a supporter of the 2nd Amendment? Do you exercise your right to own and carry a firearm? LIMB-tless Outdoors certainly is AND does! This gear review is focused on “how” I choose to carry my handgun of choice. The “how” being my choice of holster made by Venandi Holsters out of Provo, Utah. I will follow up this gear review with a blog on WHY I choose to carry a wheelgun the majority of the time (“battery” is the basis of my reasoning).

Venandi Holsters was established by a USMC veteran and law enforcement officer out of Provo, UT, Brian Wortman. Having a background carrying and using firearms, exercising his right to own and bear arms, and more importantly carrying a firearm as an officer of the law and in protection of his life and family off-duty, Brian was constantly on the hunt for custom kydex holsters he could trust and comfortably carry. After several years of buying and testing holsters, he decided to venture into making his own.

In 2021 Brian and his wife purchased the equipment and materials required for designing and producing a holster of his liking. As the cutting, heating and molding ensued, he explored the idea of a name. Being a proud US Marine, attracted to the latin language embedded in the history and tradition of the Corp, Brian pursued a latin-based name. Additionally, due to his background and experience, Brian was accepted onto his department’s SWAT sniper team and he longed for the name of his holsters to be related to long distance shooting. Venandi, Latin for “hunter”, was the closest word he could find relating to firearms and long-distance shooting. Being a hunter himself, he set his sights on the name and pulled the trigger on the patent process.

LIMB-itless Outdoors discovered Venandi Holsters through a shared passion of Badlands gear. Brian owned a Badlands bino harness and designed a holster system capable of integrating with the harness straps, placing the firearm behind the binocular pouch, comfortably against the user’s chest. Seeing the holster design for the Badlands Bino XR, I immediately ordered one.

Perfectly molded for your handgun Make/Model of choice paired with your favorite bino harness!

Here is where LIMB-itles Outdoors became a HUGE supporter of Venandi Holsters. I was introduced to the holster weeks from a non-resident elk hunt in the southeast corner of Idaho. Brian did not have the mold for my Taurus .357 magnum and only had a short window to potentially put a holster on my person prior to departing for the hunt. Without a partial or full payment in advance, Brian found and ordered the pistol mode, finalized my order and had the product in my hand in less than two weeks time. The holster was made and functions flawlessly.

Venandi offers a one-stop shop for bino harness and holster packages! With Badland’s release of their new bino harness options, I have since transitioned to the Bino X2, placing my Bino XR in reserve. Venandi Holsters stepped up to the challenge by redesigning the holster system and it is now “modular”. With the older design, you were stuck with the same pistol holstered to the same bino harness. The new design allows the attachment limbs to be replaced and/or the holster may be replaced for different models and calibers. This now allows the user to carry different pistols if they so choose.

On the ground or in the saddle, my wheelgun is always close at hand.

Good news for those who do not want to wear a bino harness. Venandi Holsters now offers a Chest Holster Conversion kit. This allows an individual to wear the holster only. I personally always wear my optics in the field, but for those who do not, you have the option for a quality chest mounted holster system.

Why does LIMB-itless Outdoors continue to engage with Venandi Holsters? Venandi checks all the boxes of my outdoor demands: high-quality product made in America, veteran owned and operated and superior customer service. When navigating Venandi’s website, you will not be flagged with fancy graphics and references to certain celebrities or movies. You will be provided a simple ordering process for your make, model and style of carry; in a clean functional presentation. In my opinion, spending a ton of money on a designer holster is like paying for colorful underwear; nobody is going to see it and the intent is for the holster to be concealed, not on display.

If you’re interested in a superbly made holster, designed to function when your life depends on it, by a professional who lives by the standards forged in the crucible; visit the Venandi website and order a holster that excels in functionality and does not empty your magazine or pocket book.
